The Ojai Christian Academy (The Academy) welcomes all students to a loving, academically rigorous, community conscious and Biblically grounded education. Our mission is clearly expressed by our school motto: “Faith • Knowledge • Service”.
Candidates are considered for Academy admission on the basis of their academic record, school recommendations, results of entrance exams, and a personal interview. The Academy realizes that peers play a major role in the educational experience. Candidates for admission are thus carefully selected in order to create a student body of high academic and behavioral standards in accordance with Academy expectations.
The Academy welcomes students from all faiths and traditions. Neither the prospective student nor his parents need be professing Christians. Both the prospective student and family must understand that The Academy is a Christian institution, teaching and conducting all school business and activities from a Christian perspective. Formal Bible study is a requirement for all Academy students.
As children grow, it is important that they be surrounded by other students who are at the same developmental stage as themselves. Because of this, The Academy does require that the age of the applying student be appropriate to the grade placement. A kindergarten student must turn five years old on or before December 1 to be admitted into The Academy.
The Academy admissions process begins when a family submits an application to the school along with the application fee. After the application is submitted, a request for student transcripts must be completed. A student and family interview and entrance exams will be scheduled for all new candidates.
Through the interview process The Academy assures that the each candidate and candidate’s family is in accord with the school’s mission and governing values. We believe it is important that both The Academy and parents enter into the educational process with a confident hope of success. Following the evaluation and interview, each family will be asked to submit all the necessary paperwork to complete the student file. A checklist of necessary paperwork will be provided each family.
